In the second installment of President-Elect Obama's Saturday fireside-chatty address in YouTube format, he discusses his plans for job creation by 2011. Good luck, sir.
If your interest in more geared toward the current President's thoughts, here's a link to the transcript and audio of Bush's address from Lima, Peru where he's attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
So he's instructed his economic advisors to come up with a plan to create 2.5MM jobs rebuilding roads, schools, windfarms and solar panels.
I hope he's planning on running the printing presses overtime at the Treasury as well, because he's certainly not going to be able to pay for all that via a tax increase on those making over $250K while simultaneously cutting taxes for those making $75K or less and implementing another economic stimulus program.

Denise, I read the transcript of Bush's address from Peru--he certainly made a strong point for Asia Pacific. Thankfully, Bush's reign of terror is so close to being over--oh the humanity!

The big solar extravaganza that Harry gReid touts, just outside Las Vegas, is now being scrutinized for increasing 'global warming'. Glass facing the sun?, duh. What happened to his great ethanol plan? Oh yea, it dramticlly increased our food costs...complete failure. Yucca Mtn. to deposit used nuclear? Being shut down after Billions spent on it. Windfarms? They kill birds, remember? Where to put the windfarms? Not in any libs backyad. The ice age cometh...not enough co2 in our atmosphere.

I'm sure all the college graduates are sighing a big sigh of relief today knowing there will be a job on a road crew waiting for them.
Happy Days Are Here Again, right? That's what I've been hearing from the Obama supporters. So why aren't they out spending, spending, spending? Where is the consumer confidence, the furious buying of stocks, the holiday spending extravaganza?? Oh, I see. Instead of putting their money where their vote went, they are waiting to spend the fat checks Obama will send them. After he pays for these new roads and bridges and energy and education and . . .

President Elect Obama is putting together a highly effective transition team. I am tired of hearing the media say it is the same old Clinton team. Maybe many were on the Clinton team but that is not the point, the point is that they are all highly qualified and will follow through on Obama's agenda, not the agenda used in the past. I can sense that the USA is in for a great presidential period the next 4 years and our standings world wide will improve dramatically. Obama will be our president so give him the benefit of doubt and see just what he can or cannot do, being critical of him before taking office is not fair and just shows ignorance on our part.

Sorry, but ignorance is thinking that we are all going to sit back and let Obama do whatever he wants without objection or comment. He chose to put himself in the line of fire when he ran for office. Now we are all free to voice our opinions on his cabinet selections and plans for the country.
As for his selections, McCain supporters aren't the only ones who don't like his picks. Check out some of the far left sites. Obama promised "CHANGE" so of course he is angering people by picking cabinet members who served under Clinton. That isn't change. It's more of the same. Which doesn't surprise those of us who actually checked his record before voting. He has never been about change or reform.
What exactly is the Obama agenda? Do you even know? Is it more of the agenda he has had since he first ran for office---big paybacks for those who give me the most money?? Oh, yeah, we've already seen that that is still his agenda. No change there.

Sorry, PCL, we wouldn't want an upturn in the economy if it means you have to stand in longer lines. My bad. ------------------------------------------------------- I'm not sure, but I think you missed my point entirely. I live in an area that voted almost entirely for Obama and have a business here (part wholesale/part retail)--and as anyone knows, we depend on Christmas sales (which right now are going pretty good) for a large chunk of our yearly retail sales. We definitely want an upturn in the economy (which again, is doing okay for us right now)--so we try to stay away from talking about people 'not spending' as it seems to have an adverse effect on sales, savvy? You are right that I'm not a fan of long lines--so I usually avoid them.

Apparently the republicans here are so upset about losing that they are already blaming everything on Obama when he hasn't even entered office. Way too funny. That is what losers do though. LOL sorry
Where will the money come from? How about the money given to Haliburton for their supplies to the war. How about the endless money spent on an oil based war that didn't even accomplish the goal. How about cutting into the tax breaks for the massive profits made by oil companies.
How about the money that will be retrieved when they finally convict Bush and Cheney of conflict of interest for the profits they made on decisions while in office and they have to repay the American public. Oh - did I go too far? Just kidding.
I guess we will have to see, but anything has to be better than the massive debt, job losses, and inflation that we have now due to oil prices. LOL
Hey JD, I haven't heard your plan to fix everything yet. How about it - put up or ......

Professional Woman--Is Steve Forbes a loser? Because yesterday in an interview, he said the losses in the market are due to investors' wariness of Obama's economic plans, especially the rise in capitol gains tax. If you can't see that investing in the stock market is not a reflection of what the economy is doing now but of what you think it will do over the next few years, you are not as much of a professional woman as you proclaim.
Why would I have a plan for the economy? What a moronic question. I'm not a politician and have no desire to be one. But I do read reports and listen to the experts and I know what they are saying about Obama's plan to raise taxes in this economy and what it will do to our future. Do you?
PCL---You think that me talking about the lack of consumer confidence and consumer spending on an AOL blog is going to affect the economy when the media has been beating it into the ground every chance they get? The Democrats in Congress started repeating over and over again that our economy was in trouble back when the stock market was over 12,000, unemployment was low, housing starts were up, inflation was down, and home ownership was at record levels. They repeated it again and again until people believed it and started acting accordingly. Maybe they are the ones you should tell to stop talking if you want consumer confidence to return to decent levels.
As for your sales, I'm happy for you that you are doing okay. Unfortunately, overall, consumer spending is way down this holiday season. Until people have the confidence to start spending, this economy won't recover, no matter how many bailouts the government hands out.

PCL---You think that me talking about the lack of consumer confidence and consumer spending on an AOL blog is going to affect the economy when the media has been beating it into the ground every chance they get? -------------------------------------------------------- JD, lighten up already--it was just meant as a little levity on my part.
---------------------------------------------------------- All of the above that you stated the Dems started repeating was in fact a good reflection on the impending repercussions of 'easy money'--which is what we are seeing right now.
As for your sales, I'm happy for you that you are doing okay. Unfortunately, overall, consumer spending is way down this holiday season. Until people have the confidence to start spending, this economy won't recover, no matter how many bailouts the government hands out. --------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for that, but it's still only November. Luckily we have a specific demographic both geographically and financially speaking--but even with all that, I'm still playing it conservative. And those ridiculous stimulus checks that the government sent out back whenever (I didn't get one, so I don't remember exactly when they went out) proved your point about consumer confidence, because people had already begun to slow down on their spending and those checks did nothing to curtail the spiral downward. As for bailouts--I'm still on the fence about that, I wonder where will it all end, whose next in line? But I do feel strongly about one thing: no oversights, NO MONEY.

Different type of neighborhoods then the rest of the people. ----------------------------------------------------------- 'Black Friday' has never been our thing--that's more the shopping malls' thing. True, my neighborhood seems to be doing okay, that is not to say we are not affected--we've all lost a shit load in 401Ks, but I'm sure we will survive. And Nancy Pelosi is, thankfully, NOT our representative.
