David Gregory Named Host of 'Meet the Press'

David Gregory also had a few embarrassing moments on the "Today" show here and there. However, he is a good solid choice for "Meet the Press."

TC: Of course, it would be impossible for anyone to replace Tim Russert in the hearts and minds of millions, but Gregory should be a worthy steward of Meet the Press.

Well said, hon :-) Still missing my acquaintance (met after delivering one of my commencement addresses), fellow Canisius alum (OK, the Jesuit college, not the HS for boys), Buffalo Bills & Sabres fan and homeboy, but am now comforted a bit by reading and enjoying the new book I stumbled upon at Walgreens, entitled, "Tim Russert: We Heartily Knew Ye." Wonderful Stories from Friends Celebrating a Great Life (Lone Wolfe Press).

I believe this was a wise choice by the network, although I also thought that Chuck Todd would have been equally suitable. Let's see what DG has to say about it on his show tonight....

BTW - the tribute ceremony just held at Ralph Wilson Stadium (renaming the adjacent street in his honor) in my hometown on Sunday was very fittingly moving and poignant.

Sorry to say, but I think David Gregory has neither the experience nor the finesse to host Meet The Press. He has too often let his ego and camera angles get in the way of his journalism. They will have to lower his chair as they do on the evening news and they have lowerd the bar on Meet The Press. Tom B. was a pathetic replacement but this is laughable. NBC is fast becoming a toppled icon.

Anyone want to bet Gregory is gone by January, 2010?

Tim Russert was the refreshing exception to a string of GE losers. Even in the cable world, MSNBC is a distant third. Fox is #1!

NBC Nightly News Managing Editor, Tom Brokaw lacked the style and credibility Russert brought to Meet the Press. Occasional substitute moderator David Gregory is a joke. Goodbye ratings, goodbye Gregory and finally, goodbye GE.

I am so disappointed that NBC did not
pick Lester Holt who would be a perfect
choice as he is as fair and objective as was
Mr Russert. And Mr. Holt is dynamic

Although Mr. Gregory is a strong candidate, Gwen Ifill of PBS Washington Week, in my opinion has proved to be a better moderator. She is brilliant, quick, even keeled, always prepared, and doesn't get rattled who ever is in the chair opposite her.

Although Mr. Gregory is a strong candidate, in my opinion, Gwen Ifill of PBS's Washington Week should be NBC's choice. She is brilliant, quick witted, fair honest, and would elevate the show to greater heights.

David Gregory will do OK; he's bright and not afraid to ask the tough Q's. No one can replace Tim Russert, so comparisons are useless. Although NBC perhaps should have gone "outside the box" to pick someone like Lester Holt or Ted Koppel, let us all be extremely grateful NBC did not go with one of the obvious turkeys like Chuck Todd or Gwen Ifill (ugh!!).

How sad. A weak weak substitute.

I suppose after AOL folks all showed how well they thought John McCain was doing I should expect some interesting views. Am I subscribing to the wrong provider? Hmmmm. I feel like a real minority here, always.

Until those questions step on the toes of a politian who shamelessly supports General Electric as it sends jobs out of the country while subsisting on American taxpayer dollars.

With Gregory in Tim's place you can change the name of the show also to. Change it to, " We hate the Republicans and want them to go away forever and the democrats can do no wrong"......Gregory will not be fair to the GOP EVER. He hates them and it shows with everytime he has screen time. Poor choice. Tim was left leaning but still tough on the left when he had to be. Gregory hates anyone who isn't a democrat.

If they want ratings and some modicum of truth they should get Rush Limbaugh.
