Spokesman: Bill Clinton Will Not Take Hillary's Senate Seat

A spokesman for former President Bill Clinton is trying to put to rest speculation that Bubba will take Hillary Clinton's Senate seat once she is confirmed as Secretary of State. From TPM: (h/t Ben Smith)

(spokesperson Matt) McKenna emailed over this:

"It's completely false. President Clinton is excited to expand the work of his foundation which has more than 1,000 staff and volunteers in 44 countries advancing projects on HIV/AIDS, climate change, sustainable economic development, and childhood obesity."

This is a good thing, I think. Bill Clinton going into the Senate would be like a retired McDonald's manager taking over the fry station. All of his old employees would be snapping him with cleaning towels, and making him clean the shake machine.

Also, I'm sure it's a worthy goal, but I'm not sure I would have included childhood obesity on the same list as sustainable economic development. That's a modest proposal waiting to happen.

If anyone up there is listening, I would humbly submit my own choice for the next Senator Clinton from the State of New York: Chelsea. This will give her plenty of time to gear up for her aught- 16 presidential run.
