One of the more fascinating details to emerge in the Blagojevich scandal is the idea that Rahm Ema

I spoke to a lot of people today, and while none of them would go on the record (even anonymously), not one of them tried to walk the rumor back even a little.
I think that what's at play here is a desire to keep the focus on Blagojevich, and off of Barack Obama. While the idea that someone from his team helped to bring Blago down seems like a huge positive, it is outweighed by the desire to keep the incoming administration out of the morass and on task.
With all that in mind, I still love the idea of Blagojevich trying to out-Rahm Rahm. I envision the phone call going something like this: (Warning – Heavily asterisked expletives)

The backstory, from Think Progress: Marcy Wheeler catches local Chicago press reporting that Rahm Emanuel may have tipped off federal investigators that Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) was engaging in corrupt acts. Jack Conaty, a Chicago reporter for the local Fox affiliate, said on-air that Rahm Emanuel might have been responsible for causing federal investigators to act quickly to apprehend Blagojevich this morning.You can see the video of that report below.

Anyway, if this is true, it answers some blogger's or responder's question. It went something like this: "OK, suppose Obama's telling the truth and he didn't talk to Blago about this. For Blago to know that Obama 'won't give us anything but appreciation,' he must have talked to *someone* in Obama's camp. So good on that person for not giving him anything (duh), but why didn't *he* immediately tell Fitzgerald about it?" The answer is, or at least may be, he did!
(BTW (no, Brn Tre Wesl, not you), should the entire universe containing all these discussions now be temporarily renamed the "Blagosphere"?)

As to the president-elect, it's the same guilt by association crap they tried before and it will blow up in their faces just like before.
What it shows you in reality is how far republican principles have drifted away from American principles. The idea that this silliness will somehow thwart the will of 64 million Americans voting for their vetted choice in a lawful election is first, childish and second, anti-American.
The Supreme law of the land was even 'challenged', read annoyed by this foolishness and you were roundly dismissed as well you should have been, but that won't stop you from trying to subvert the process, will it?

It's because you do not respect the democratic process unless it favors you. If it doesn't, there seems to be no limit to what you'll attempt to perpetrate as every one of these tinfoil helmet blogs has shown us for nearly every day since the election.

In a previous post Tommy stated he was a student of history.
I had watched a program on the history channel on body languge. During this program they had a segment on Obama and analyzed his speech and what drew people to him. The show said he gave his speeches to a "beat working the crowd up to a cresendo."
The footage showed Obama giving a speech behind a very high podium while the crowd chanted OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!
Nothing remarkable I just watched and listened.
Then Obama gave the crowd a shoulder high wave and I just said "Oh my god!"
I asked Tommy, as a student of history, if he "saw what I saw" thats all.
So the Ernst Rohm comment was, shall we say, an inside comment.
I do not maitain Obama is a Nazi, just the similarities I have noticed.
Come on now Cliff I'll put money down you call Bush a Nazi at least several times a day, right?

No. I know the difference between nazism and fascism. Even Ron Paul calls bush a fascist, and as far as I can see, that's accurate. His grandfather was an open Fascist and a nazi sympathizer, however, and he was implicated in the attempted fascist coup against Roosevelt that Gen. Smedley Butler famously lost his job for blowing the whistle on.
This came up on the Betray us fiasco when Petraeus did exactly what Butler (and MacArthur) did, took it on himself to make policy, got away with it. Many felt betrayed since the administration once again made up special rules for itself that were heretofore unknown in American history.
In itself, that's not Fascist, just authoritarian but deregulation is, and the corruption that arises under Fascism is exemplified in the betrayus protocol.

Blagojevich has got to be Obama's worst nightmare these days. Like every politician, he is well aware of the success of Fitzgerald and Federal investigators in "turning" an arrested politician. By holding out the promise of "sentencing recommendations", those arrested are quite willing to blab all the dirt they know on their fellow politicians.
From his powerful inside position, Blagojevich may well spill the beans on many of the mysteries of Obama's background and operating style. Most interesting would be to learn how a minor, unremarkable junior State politician was plucked from the crowd and given the prestigious and plumb role as convention keynote speaker in 2004. That alone was something unheard of in American political history.
Yes, Obama must be sweating bullets. (Perhaps there is some truth to the speculation that he picked all of those Clintonistas because they were already experienced in a presidential impeachment!)
