The question on the minds of many news outlets, desperate for more Blagojevich content, is this: Does Rod

Blagojevich, in fact, have the mental stability of
guano?
The question seems to have gained traction, with reporters from CBS,
Fox, and
ABC, among others, investigating the matter in a variety of ways. From
CBS2 in Chicago:
However, after some reflection, there is the serious question people like Marian Cassler of Chicago are asking: "When you know you're being watched, why would you do something like that? You have to have something wrong."
"Well, we think he's nuts, that he has some kind mental problem that he would have the audacity to do such a thing," said Chicago resident Meg Olsen.
Could it be that Blagojevich has a mental illness that has impaired his judgment?
If the expert testimony of random Chi-towners didn't convince you, every station has some expert willing to conclusively state that Blago is acting kinda nuts. Thanks for that, could you also fill me in on what all those bears are doing in the woods?
Now, clearly, the guy is "crazy" in that he's the
Frank the Tank of political corruption, streaking pastily across the political landscape in full view of the feds. But that's not the same thing as proving, in court, that he didn't know right from wrong. It just means he didn't care about the difference. This should be good news for the people of America, who don't want to see him get off that easy.
On the other hand, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan may soon be trying to prove Blagojevich's deficit of marbles, in a
bid to have him removed as governor. If successful, it is possible that Madigan could end up a witness at Blagojevich's criminal trial to say, in effect, "He's crazy, but not that crazy."
