Federal officials said yesterday that no one will be allowed to camp overnight on the Mall before the presidential inauguration and that spectators will be barred from staking out spots on the parade route until 7 a.m.

Siting "security concerns" and a whole lot of other bureaucratic nonsense, legions of Obama fans will now be prevented from pitching their Patagonia pup tents and unrolling their sleeping bags in the spirit of sub-zero patriotism. It is anticipated that 3-5 million revelers will pour into a frigid DC for the festivities. A great many of that number will need a place to sleep on the 19th, and there's no word on the occupancy limit on Fred Thompson's 1 BR apartment which will set you back $30,000 for 5 nights.

Seriously, without the camping option, where are these people going to go? Area hotels have long ago been sold out. Mercifully, DC's city council has extended last call at bars until 5 a.m. But that means two hours of aimless, pre-dawn wandering by Obama's zombie herd.

The nation's capitol should be quite a sight at around 6 a.m.
