Sources: Caroline Kennedy Front-Runner for Hilary Clinton Senate Seat

Several sources are telling multiple newspapers that (disturbing) Diamond muse Caroline Kennedy is the clear frontrunner to take Hillary Clinton's vacant Senate seat. The Daily Beast puts it all together:
According to The New York Times, Kennedy has called several prominent New York machers and plans an upstate trip similar to Clinton's famous "listening tour" to firm up support. Sources close to Gov. David Paterson, who will make the appointment, say that Kennedy is now a "clear front-runner." "The upside of her candidacy is that the 2010 ballot will read Kennedy-Paterson," a source told the paper. "David craves national attention and money. If you connect the dots, it leads to her." A source tells the Daily News, "She is in." The New York Post reports that Kennedy has the quiet support of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Now, before you start in, try to keep in mind Caroline's experience. She has more credentials than my press lanyard, which I wear everywhere I go. Let's take a quick look at the resume´:

* President of the Kennedy Library Foundation – Very prestigious. They don't give this post to just anyone. As long as it doesn't come out that she "asked" about banning books, this is a big positive.

* Adviser to The Harvard Institute of Politics – Harvard, wow. Why would they need advice? She must be super-smart, I mean, like, telekinesis smart. The Institute was founded as a "living memorial" to JFK.

* Director, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund - Directing is hard, just ask Martin Scorsese.

* Director, Commission on Presidential Debates – It's not true that she once said, at a Commission meeting, "Maybe we can have them phrase their answers in the form of a question."

* Director of strategic partnerships for the New York City Department of Education – No, she was not in charge of finding people to help her attack schools in other cities. This job was about raising private funds for NYC schools. She might want to leave this one off, they only paid her a dollar a week. Not the best recommendation, if you ask me.
She carries the additional advantage of being more than able to afford her own campaign wardrobe.

To be fair, politics is not all about the resume´. There's a better-than-average chance that, were she to run for the seat, she would win handily. Charm, intelligence, and a potent pedigree go a long way with voters.

Additionally, Paterson would be hard-pressed to pass up the chance to install what could be a perennial winner in the seat. Americans love themselves some Kennedy, and the sentimental appeal could deflect a lot of the flak.

If he does, though, then the Democrats have to realize that they might have to shut up when the GOP tries to run a candidate with a Kleenex resume'.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
