President Bush's official presidential portrait was unveiled today at the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution. Bush selected an old Yale classmate for that task because he "needed to find a person who would do the painting that would be a good and forgiving friend."

Painter Robert Anderson previously painted Bush for a much more important venue: the Yale Club of New York City.

The Smithsonian portrait shows Bush in a relaxed position, sporting a sly smile in the style of the Mona Lisa. Much like with Da Vinci's masterpiece, viewers may wonder what exactly Bush is thinking to inspire that grin. What do you think?
