Levi Johnston's Mom to Be Proudest Grandmother in Jail

To hear US Weekly tell it, Bristol Palin is about to burst any second now, unleashing a bouncing, baby gift-from-God upon the world.

Well this little tyke is going to have quite a set of grandmothers! One is the governor of Alaska and an anti-Russian spy. The other is facing six felony counts regarding possession, manufacture, and intent to distribute illegal drugs...

Sarah Palin, the Alaskan governor and former Republican Vice Presidential candidate, was facing fresh embarrassment over her family after her daughter Bristol's future mother-in-law was arrested on drug charges...

[Sherry] Johnston was taken into custody on Thursday at her home in Wasilla, Alaska, where Mrs Palin used to be mayor and still lives, and was charged with six counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance.

Officials in Alaska said that the arrest was connected with the strong prescription painkiller OxyContin. In addition to possession charges, Mrs Johnston faces a felony charge usually related to selling or manufacturing the drugs.

It's bittersweet news for the Palin family, but it's amazing how American stories come full circle. One grandmother is a political icon; the other is a drug dealer. And yet, the drug dealer apparently specializes in OxyContin, while the political icon appeared on Rush Limbaugh's show... Let's just say that all sides blew a shot at a major transaction.

And to think, if the baby was born in Illinois, he wouldn't even need two grandparents to achieve political icon/felon heritiage at the same time.
