Pope Benedict XVI, pictured here being kissed by a dude, enraged many by denouncing homosexuality in remarks

to the Vatican's central administration, the Bi-Curia.
From The Telegraph:
In his address to the Curia, the Vatican's central administration, the Pope himself described behaviour beyond traditional heterosexual relations as "a destruction of God's work".
He said the Roman Catholic Church had a duty to "protect man from the destruction of himself" and urged respect for the "nature of the human being as man and woman."
The pontiff added: "The tropical forests do deserve our protection. But man, as a creature, does not deserve any less."
A direct translation using Google's new "Subtext" feature yielded the following addendum:
Please don't bring up the pedophilia.

The Vatican can also expect a backlash from conservatives, furious at the Pope's anti-business attitudes about rainforests.
I guess you can tell, I don't think the Pope is in any position to throw stones here. The gayest-looking man on the planet is going to lecture us about homosexuality? Even his elite security team, the Swiss Guards, would get laughed out of Elton John's birthday gala.
This is a rough time of year for the LGBTQ community, with the recent
passage of Proposition 8, Arkansas'
adoption ban, and cuddly teddy bear/virulent homophobe
Rick Warren delivering the inaugural invocation. The forces of anti-gayness, in all of their splendor, seem to be trying to get people to choose sides. From the looks of things, they might do well to remember the old courtroom maxim about not asking a question you don't already know the answer to.
