Some of the candidates' answers are way too vague, and simply re-hashing everything that has ever been said: small business, less government, lower taxes, family values, bla bla bla. There's quite a bit of that "oh, the dems were just more motivated" garbage, also, without any analysis of just why that might be. Oh, and Saltsan recalling the "Party of Lincoln" - when he knows (or at least he should know, if he knows anything at all about history) that the GOP abandoned the black vote in order to pull in southern dems after LBJ signed the civil rights legislation. Please.

Steele seems to get to the heart of what the GOP needs: "The liberal tilt of America's college campuses has put the GOP and conservatives in general at a significant disadvantage. Couple that with the "rock-star status" of a candidate like Barack Obama who effectively harnessed technology, rhetoric, and pop culture and you can see why the GOP fails miserably with young people.
But, new leadership creates new ways to connect to this generation of voters. Recruit better, engage more quickly and effectively, and provide young people with the confidence and the tools necessary for ideological victories on campus and political victories on campaigns. One way we can regaincredibility is to break down the negative stereotypes. We must demonstrate that we're not a party for the white, rich and the powerful. We must hold up the GOP mirror and let them see message of our party reflected in their lives. I just don't want to take a page from the Democrats' playbook, I want to improve on the use of pop culture, music, and technology to adapt and create a party that young people want to join."

Without the 18-35 demographic, the GOP won't recover.
