To John McCain: congratulations, you won't be president and can just concentrate on doing the job you love, being a pain-in-the-ass senator. Plus governor Napolitano will be director of Homeland Security and thus not a threat to your senate seat in 2010.
To Sarah Palin: Hopefully a healthy first grandchild. Also a job as the governor of the state in likely the best financial shape in the country. Also, continued stratospheric favorability among conservatives.
To Joe Biden: A second dog! This one hopefully won't cause any controversy.
To Hillary Clinton: Congratulations, you're the new Secretary of State, too bad it only cost you $13 million of your own money to get it, but at least, unlike Joe Biden, you have actual responsibilities.

I reiterate:
The question now is: Will the "auto bail-out" actually be specifically targeted to the alternative-energy-technology initiatives that could ignite a "green-collar economic revolution" of the sort needed for this country to climb up out of the hole it has dug for itself? --- or will it just be squandered trying to perpetuate "business as usual" for a little bit longer?!
"We" DESPERATELY need to get SERIOUSLY busy ACTUALLY IMPLEMENTING the "new" old I.C.E. / ELECTRIC "chimera" alternative (e.g. the Chevy VOLT "mini-locomotive") and REGENERATIVE BRAKING (e.g. the Toyota Prius) concepts --- and ultimately THEIR DERIVATIVE COMBINATION(!) (which would ABOUT DOUBLE the range provided by the BATTERY!)--- in order to WEAN "OUR"SELVES OFF OF "OUR" ADDICTIVE DEPENDENCY ON OTHER PEOPLES' OIL!! But the whole energy paradigm change IS no doubt going to be VERY DISRUPTIVE AND FINANCIALLY PAINFUL --- for MANY whose interests, livelihoods, and "fortunes" are allied (directly or indirectly) with "our" old oil-based economic "order" and OUTMODED vehicular technology.
It is ALREADY so for me and mine, and indeed for us ALL! However, given the murder, butchery, torture, and thievery that "we" have FOR MANY YEARS NOW ALREADY visited on "other" people around the world ---particularly many of our ISLAMIC brethren (even goading some of them to the point of suicidal vengeance!) by way of trying to "control" THEIR resources to "suit" "our" interests (only to find out the hard way that THAT can NOT be "economically" "accomplished"!) --- I, for one, would (DIS)respectfully suggest that much of the pain "we" now experience IS ACTUALLY DESERVED!
After all, "we" COULD have pursued the alternatives that must now be undertaken on a "hurry-up" basis much more INTELLIGENTLY, CONSTRUCTIVELY, RESPONSIBLY, PEACEFULLY AND GRADUALLY if "we" had but had the wisdom and wit to do so!
