Well, good luck Bristol. I feel sorry for you. Your hubby-to-be is a redneck uneducated piece of crap; your in-laws deal drugs; your mother can't name newspapers; and you're being forced into a marriage at such a young age. Good luck in the divorce, honey, and maybe next time, look into getting on the pill or a rubber. I know it's probably against whatever whacko religion you're subscribing to these days, but unless you want to squeeze out more trashy babies, make the right call for once.

I guess I would have said Merry Christmas, if Christmas wasn't last week, and therefore my wish for her to have a good Christmas is kind of moot at this point. But I'll go ahead and wish her a happy new year.

Say, wouldn't most Republicans argue that a child born out of wedlock to an 18 year old would probably be trashy, just because the parents would be assumed to have been trashy? I guess not when the 18 year old and baby in question are related to a bigwig Republican. I love the smell of hypocrisy in the evening. Smells like the GOP.

Karen, you need not pity the young Ms.Palin, save your pity for the image that you see in the mirror. I'm sure someone loved you and cared for you, and was proud of their little girl at one time.

Yeah, I guess I am full of hate. I hate that the media hounded Palin's family (Bristol's pregancy really isn't front page news, you know?). I hate that Bristol was (in all likelihood, given her mother and the media attention) not given a choice in whether to have the child and whether to marry the father. I hate that Bristol (again, in all likelihood) did not have access to the pill (since birth control is frowned up by a lot of Christians) or condoms (now, true, we don't know this, maybe she did use protection, but based on her parents and their beliefs, I'll go ahead and say she didn't). And I hate that a pair of 18 year olds are now saddled with the incredible responsibility of raising a (unplanned) baby. I do honestly wish them good luck, but I also don't feel like things will turn out well for them.

Gee, thanks, Le Wilhelm, for being concerned about me. After all, I was smart and got on the pill in high school; I went to college and got a degree; and now that I have a job, insurance, and my own place, I am considering getting into a more serious relationship and planning a family, instead of accidentally being forced into one like Bristol was. I wish things had worked out for Bristol the same way. I guess that is wrong of me. But hey, maybe things will work out for her; who knows? (And actually, although I greatly disagree with and dislike Sarah Palin, I wish her luck in helping raise two young children. She has her own (special needs) child, and I'm sure she's going to help raise her granddaughter. That's a lot of responsibility for anyone, and while I really don't like Palin, but I do wish her luck in what is a private matter the media never should have seized on.)
