Huckabee Issues Statement on Saltsman Controversy

You gotta be kiddin me. No apology, no accepting responsibility for something so vile, and on top of it all, just plain stupid. Instead, we get Mike Huckabee trying to sell Saltsman as a 'good guy'. Gotta say, I'm not surprised. Those good Christian Family Values are the dogma the intolerant RR hide behind.

I like Huckabee. He's a good man. I believe that if McCain had chosen him, McCain might be president today. If not, he would have given Obama a run for his money.

I don't think Obama is going to address this issue of the "Magic Negro". He will likely do as he did with Palin during the campaign.. act as if nothing has been said. That's the best way to handle this kind of situation. If you don't stir dung, it will not stink nearly as bad. Or in other words,"Let Sleeping Dogs Lie."

Here's the facts: Saltsman sent copies of his friends CD (Paul Shanklin) to other friends for Christmas, who writes parody songs for a living, and the "Magic" Obama song was one of the songs on the CD. Shanklin wasn't even the one who coined the phrase to begin with, it was a guy in politics who wrote an artical a while back, you'll find it somewhere online if you want, so if Saltsman gets static, so needs the guy from the artical, plain and simple.
Further more, the terminology in the title of the song, "negro" is in no way any more harmful than the terms "caucasion", "asian", or "mexican". These are descriptive words used to describe nationality. It's only when those terms are rendered in a provocative manner such as the "n" word, or "cracker", or "spic", etc. that deem them disrepectful and racist.
Lastly, parodies are everywhere you look, they're about anyone who shares a common denominator....the limelight. If you want fame, fortune and celebrity, you're gonna be a target of parody. No one is omitted or exempt here. This whole bugaboo is simply a ploy for revenge and a distraction from the left who are attempting to take the camera off Blojobavech, that's all. 1st Ammendment says the songwritter can say anything he wants....you don't like it, don't listen to it, it's really that simple. All those offended by this and other miniscule, non-important, so-called issues need to have a coke and smile, and shut the F up.

And PCL, we're all aware that liberals are so smart, so intelligent, that they just know there's no God, no heaven...only Darwin, Einstein and the Big Bang, but it sure would be nice for you guys to allow the rest of us lowly, bedraggeled, inferior beings a little religious freedom, okiedoke?
Oh, and if it's intolerance you seek, maybe aim that high-powered perception of yours at the Democratic party? You'll find plenty of it there.

I agree with your protecting the fool's first amendment rights, I would do the same. However, those same rights give those of us who are disgusted by it the right to voice our objections to it--free speech baby. My biggest objection in all of this is how stupid it was--I don't suffer fools lightly. Now telling people to shut the fuck up when you don't see eye to eye with them is your right under that same first amendment. And I have the right to tell you, under said same amendment, to go fuck yourself. See how that works?

Chip should have been more careful in his selection of Christmas gifts, but no one who knows him would ever suggest that he in any way would purposely disparage other people.

Mike makes an interesting attempt to bargain, though. He'll spot you a duty to follow the president if you let chip slip.

It's one way to ethically cleanse your power base, though. You don't want any of those tainted Negro or Spanglish votes going to your boys, do you? Your party wants no votes with minority cooties on them, right?

Here's a thought, hon. If your religion isn't phony it will support 21st century science.

When you have to pretend there was no cosmic singularity event, what you call the 'big bang' when you can tune the CMB in on every radio or analog tv on earth and it's been settled science since 1990 including a photograph of the CMB, there's something definitely wrong with that picture, and it sure ain't the science.

Honestly - everyone makes mistakes. Even if it is to continue the 'humor' that still divides and spreads ignorance and hate. If you guys are in anyway in agreement with me, stop arguing that this is just a minuscule, non-important issue. Why couldn't Saltsman distribute a CD that wasn't satirical? If Saltsman or any other person for that matter cannot sing "Barack the Magic Negro" in the face of any black person, then it shouldn't be sung, listened to, or distributed at all. Think about it. Please don't use the guise of humor to hide behind a fear or inacceptance of a different race. And if you choose to use profanity to defend your case, you're just putting yourself in a lower class.

The term "Magic Negro", and its variants, were *not* coined by a political columnist. Go check Wiki and its sources.

Worse, the word "Negro" is used in the term precisely because it's a pejorative.

The would-be chair of the RNC is guilty of a colossal misjudgment. That he and other party leaders can't see this demonstrates how far the GOP has to go.
