Great news, Illinois state lawmakers! U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald did a little post-Christmas shopping and got a great deal on recordings of a closeout governor. U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald wants lawmakers to hear what Gov. Rod Blagojevich says on wiretapped phone calls.
Fitzgerald filed paperwork Monday to release conversations caught on wiretaps to the Illinois House panel considering impeachment proceedings.
It's too early to tell what the tapes will reveal, or if they'll also be shared with the public. Perhaps we'll all learn the source of those beaver pelts the governor so fashionably sports atop his head.
Or maybe-- and this is admittedly a long shot-- we'll learn the word that Fitzgerald kept [bleeping] out when quoting the governor at his press conference. (Example: "I've got this thing and it's [bleeping] golden!")
Our guess? "Gosh-darned."
