The Chicago Tribune just announced that former Attorney General of Illinois Roland Burris is Rod Blagojevich's choice to replace Obama in the Senate.
The first question on everyone's mind, of course, is how much did Mr. Burris spend to get the seat? We may never know, but here is what we do know about Roland Burris:
Age: Almost exactly 1 year younger than John McCain
Place of Birth: Centralia, Illinois
Places Educated Other than the U.S.: Germany (studied international law as an exchange student)
Previous Appointment by an Illinois Governor: Director of the Department of Central Management Services
U.S. Senate Experience: Lost the 1984 Democratic nomination in Illinois to Paul Simon.
Other Failed Campaigns: Tried unsuccessfully to win the Democratic nomination for Illinois Governor in 1994, 1998 and 2002. Lost a 1995 bid for Chicago Mayor to Richard M. Daley.
Currently Employed By: Burris & Lebed Consulting, LLC

If Barack Obama approves the pick and the people of the state of Illinoise approve the senate should repect all the parties involved and confirm him...

Burris will be seated in the senate. The Senate can not do anything except seat this man otherwise the Supreme Court will uphold this selection.

The Mackey Award is given to the top college tight end, but the award wasn't even in existence until 2000. Burris was in college decades before that.

BARACK HAS NO SAY IN THE MATTER AND FOR POLITICAL REASONS HE WILL NOT WEIGH IN ON THIS APPOINTMENT. HE IS FAR TOO SMART FOR THAT. THINK ABOUT IT.

I GUESS YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN OR NEVER DID KNOW THAT BEFORE IT GOES ANYWHERE THE SECRETARY OF STATE HAS TO CERTIFY THE APPOINTMENT. IF YOU HAD READ THE ARTICLE YOU WOULD NOW THAT THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. IT IS VERY SAD THAT ROLAND IS GOING TO GET SCREW AROUND LIKE THAT BUT HEY, HE JUST ADD IT TO THE HUGE LIST HE HAS OF PAST LOSES, SEEMS THAT IS WHAT HE DOES BEST.

My lily WHITE mother was sympathetic toward communism -- and hated Christianity..........
My birth father is a Muslim from Kenya............
My step-dad is a Muslim..............
My grandparents are atheist................
I attended a church for 20 years with a racist pastor that screamed "GOD DAMN (USA of KKK) AMERICA" in front of my young daughters..............
While I was anything but, I had to claim Christianity to be President.............
I started my political career in the living room of an domestic terrorist............
I won my first election by getting all of my opponents kicked off the ballot..........
