When I heard that Bill Richardson was
withdrawing as Secretary of Commerce-Designate, the first thing I thought

was "Holy Frakking SPIT!" (or words to that effect.) Then, I wondered if this was stage 1 of a Tecumseh-style curse against the enemies of Hillary Clinton.
Richardson, you may recall,
was dubbed "Judas" by Hillary loyalist James Carville, which Richardson then whined about, only to have Carville rub it in a little more. His offense? Endorsing Barack Obama, despite a longstanding personal and professional relationship with the Clintons.
If there is a curse, it may have started with
Caroline Kennedy, perhaps the 2nd most-hated Democrat in PUMA-land, the bunker for Hillary loyalists. While some are reporting her as the favorite to replace Hillary in the Senate, there has been tremendous blowback that will be damaging to many if she doesn't get it.
So, who's next to befall misfortune? It's hard to say, but Democrats like Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi, who chose sides against Hillary, might want to get some necklaces of garlic, or holy water, or at least practice making a cross with their fingers.
It should also be said that Richardson maintains his innocence, withdrawing to avoid a delay in confirmation, and that there is no proof of wrongdoing. This is what anyone would say in this situation for sure, but Barack Obama has a tendency to err on the side of caution with these jettisonings, so Richardson could very well be cleared in this.
