Is Bush the 'Worst President We've Ever Had'?

How soon they forget the humiliating presidency of Jimmy Carter -- his 18% interest rates, stagflation, and Iran taking advantage of his weak response to terrorism.

I realize that constitutionally we only have one President at a time, but where is the current one?? Seems like he is taking his final, extended vacation, during a very "interesting" and dice-y time.

Also, unrelated, who exactly is staying in the guest quarters at the Blair House, preventing the Obama's from staying there for two weeks? We all knew who stayed in the Lincoln Bedroom during the Clinton Administration, but with the lockdown of information (and reporters respect for this and their laziness) during the Bush Admin, we really have not heard who have been "guests". Would make a worthwhile list ....

Come on - at least Carter was/is a compassionate, caring, decent REAL Christian - Bush couldn't give a crap. Bush is definitely the most intellectually challenged person who's ever held the office

Bush could care less, what the country thinks of him, he accomplished everything he set out to do.

Although 70% of AOL viewers are glad to see Bush leave office, the Republicans will be hesitant to say he is the worst President ever. In Carter's defense, he was the first President to have an Oil Embargo or have terrorist take hostages. I must add that had the U.S. not protected a Dictator worse and Hussain in the Shah of Iran, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now!

Yes, Bush is the worst President ever. And in defense of Carter, he was the first President to have to deal with an Oil Embargo and if the U.S. didn't cuddle the likes of dictators like the Shah of Iran, perhaps we wouldn't be in the mess we're currently in.

I'll give you the stagflation, although that's arguably the result of either OPEC (my view) or Nixon's going off the gold standard (the WSJ's view), neither of which occurred on Carter's watch. The 18% interest rates were Volcker's response to the stagflation and deficit, and he brought them right back for Reagan, who after all was about to run far higher deficits than Carter ever dreamed of.

And precisely what "terrorism" occurred on Carter's watch that he had a "weak response" to? It's at least equally plausible that Iran's intransigence was their way of "taking advantage" of Roone Arledge's ratings-driven response, aka "America Held Hostage." And don't forget either, Carter (and Warren Christopher, one of the least appreciated American heroes in my lifetime) did get the hostages out without giving up anything significant, which is more than you can say for his successor.

Believe it or not Bush's beer drinking buddies are staying there. It has been stated on other blogs that they are having a "LONG" farewell party as Bush prepares to leave the white house. Nice Huh? He risks the security of the Obama family for his buddies - what is so important about THEM that they could not be moved to a hotel (except that they don't have to PAY to stay at Blair House)

As someone who admires former President Carter for his ongoing efforts to make the world a better place and possibly make up for some of what went wrong during his Administration,I would admonish B Bonds that President Bush went out of his way to talk the talk and not walk the walk. Simply put, the man is a hypocrite. He took the office not representing all of the People and based every decision personally. That is not a man who struggles with intellectual decision making....thats a man who selfishly rationalizes everything into simplified little boxes as if life could really be like that. What about Katrina? What about the MASSIVE lie of WMD to lead us into Iraq? What about the proliferation of ideological appointees in govt positions and firing those that disagree? What about the dumbing down of science so one can feel good about the earth story matching up to the Genesis story? What about the systemic dismantling of how competent government works? What about the corruption we have discovered?

I was a child during the Carter Administration in middle school. I was not stupid and I saw the economy around me at the time as bad. This is so much worse whats happening right now. My children tell ME that Bush is the worst president we've ever had because he only made decisions HE could live with. What about the other 300 plus million?????

The worst President was Bill Clinton because he was to cheap to rent a motel room and then he "lied".

His reign has certainly created difficulties for a multitude of people. The unnecessary Iraq war will play a major part in this determination.
His low approval rating speaks volumes.

Definitelly the WORST president of all time. He should be tried for war crimes, then sent to Iraq and have them deal with him there.

In spite of his personal bad judgment Bill Clinton did a lot of good things, had a great rapport with other countries & left with things in good shape economically (which the present administration took down the tube in short order).
Get your mind out of the gutter & focus on the positve. He continues to be respected (whether you like it or not). He will also keep doing good deeds to repair damage done by cowboy-mentality Bush.

At least Carter did things FOR America - Bush just keeps doing things against America. Yep - W wins - by far - the WORST, most inept and embarrassing presidency EVER! And to you Clinton/Obama haters - try some facts - we were MUCH better off with Clinton.
