The New York Times is reporting the
appearance of a perception of a hunch that there might have allegedly been a quid pro quo between Hillary Clinton and a donor to the Clinton Foundation. According to the Times

report, Robert Congel donated $100,000 to the Former president's charity shortly before Senator Clinton helped to pass a bill that was helpful to his business, which I guess makes it more of a quo pro quid, or maybe a ouq orp diuq:
Mrs. Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert J. Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse.
Mrs. Clinton also helped secure a provision in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.
But then the report goes on to say this:
Mrs. Clinton, who as a Senate candidate in 2000 supported other tax breaks for a Carousel mall expansion to create jobs, did not work alone in getting the subsidies through Congress. The measures had other supporters in the New York delegation, including Senator Charles E. Schumer, a Democrat, and James T. Walsh, Syracuse's Republican representative at the time.
And the "green bonds" were backed by lawmakers from three other states with projects that would qualify for it.
This is thinner than the stack of RSVP's to
Bill Richardson's next Super Bowl party. The donation was to a charitable foundation, not a political campaign, and followed the supposed favor. The favor in question, she barely had anything to do with, and Congel was not the sole beneficiar, as the article implies. It's also an extension of something she supported four years before the donation occurred.
There are some who think that this will hold up Clinton's confirmation as Secretary of State. I doubt it. Clinton has massive public support on both sides of the aisle after her historic presidential run, and nobody is in the mood for this fight. Without better ammo, the GOP is better off keeping their powder dry and picking another battle. This is not the scandal you're looking for.
