According to another press release by the Presidential Inaugural Committee, Barack Obama will host a dinner in

honor of his onetime rival for the presidency, Senator John McCain. He will also host dinners for Joe Biden and Colin Powell. The real test will be which dinner he's at the longest, that will show who his favorite is. (Full press release, translated into Japanese and back into English, after the jump)
I think a dinner like this is a great idea, setting the right tone for Obama's post-partisan administration. Still, I think they should do a themed dinner, just to have a little fun with it. I suggest "T.G.I. Tuesday's" (Thank God the Inauguration's Tuesday), with the waiters and waitresses wearing 34 pieces each of campaign "flair." They'll be instructed to answer every question with either "Yes, we can!" or "That one!"
"Can you get me an arugula salad with candied pralines and a boisonberry vinaigrette?""Yes, we can!""Can you recommend a good wine?""That one!"The entree could be "Tri-partisan Turducken." The menu descriptions would be themed as well, like "Medallions of beef tenderloin 'pal around' with a peppercorn sauce," and "our fruit platter is so fresh, it's ready to serve on day one!"
When you order something without a particular ingredient, the servers will say, "OK, that's one You Betcha Mooseburger, throw the onions under the bus."
The special at the Biden dinner will be "Gaffe-spacho," a soup that wasn't supposed to be cold but just came out that way.
At the Powell dinner, each table will feature "anthrax vial" salt and pepper shakers.
