Now that poor Carolyn has been funked out of her senate seat, the least the messiah can do is appoint her to the Supreme Court at the next vacancy.

I agree, had conservatives been awake AND IN POWER, things would have been different. Unfortunately, Moderate Republicans (MRs) bumped conservatism from power and joined forces with liberals to give us the record deficits we have today. Now that MRs and liberals have switched power places it should get worse. And it has. The deficit will now cross 2 trillion and we are only on DAY 3.

We are FUCKED, but only because conservatives were usurped just when they got the deficit under control and down to about $18 billion. You've got to familiarize yourself with the various factions of each party or you are going to be shocked when The Big O gets stretched limb from limb between the liberal and conservative factions of his own party. There in lies the danger to The Big O's presidency and the salvation of capitalism.

Now that's funny David S.--and unfortunately, probably true. Thomas is a disgrace.

Boy do I hate dropping names. In 1995 or thereabouts I had a great opportunity to meet Justice Thomas in chambers with a small group for a Q & A. Justice Thomas, was affable, cordial, and took some meaningful time out of his schedule to meet with us. I remember him talking about pizza come to think of it. I didn't offer him a soda and asked him some dorky question about the law. Very kind fella'. Just wrong across the board.

Justice Sourter also met with us separately. A brilliant man. Relative to Thomas, I distinctly recall the difference in intellectualism.

As far as Thomas goes, rarely does he engage the attorneys during Oral Argument. I don't know if he's changed over the past few years. He did not write many decisions of note that I recall and, as pointed out, it is usually a joining opinion Justice Scalia writes. Scalia, is pure dynamite during Oral Argument. He makes attorneys weep. I kinda like that about him.

In the picture, I don't think that's an eye blink. Thomas is in La La Land. The posture is a classic tell. It's like your Dad at temple or church when Mom has to nudge him to wake up. "What, I'm up!" He'd reply. One minute later, snoozefest. Man Thomas has gone far more gray than the last time we poked smot together.
