It's a mild, polite rebuke but still it's a rare occasion when high-profile conservatives go after each other in the media. Bill Bennett says Rush Limbaugh was wrong to hope President Obama crashes and burns: "The locution 'I want him to fail' is not what you say the first week the man's been inaugurated." Bennett also has some surprisingly complimentary things to say about the new president and his attempts at consensus-building.
Rus h and his moron buddies want Obama t ofail..well IDIOTS, if Obama's tenure is a failure the nWE, all of america will fail. Got it? A failure of an administration is a failure of the country. Just look at the last 8 yrs. Failed economics, failed internationa ldiplomacy, failed health care, failed "war", failed "nation buillding", failed "reforms of education". now yo uwant more of the same. Bush's failure was OUR failure, lets not play the us verus them, it is ALL of us.We cannot have another failure in the white house or American will fail totally and become a third workd nation and economy! Rush you blow hard SHUT UP and ROOT for american for a change!

Well said, Phillip Katcher. I hope that more responsible conservatives step forward and tell RL to put a cork in it. Maybe then R's defenders will FINALLY figure out that only the US "aristocracy" will be spared if Obama and his policies fail.

Does anyone really listen to this fat, drug addict anymore anyway? No one I know does nor even KNOWS anyone who does, and I'm a Republican ..... Limbo is so irrelevant now anyway, hence the outcome of this election, that he can flap his pie hole from now until eternity and it wont make any difference as to how this country runs. It's a new day in so many ways!

Rush LimPPaugh is a well known right-wing bigot, albeit it well paid ($400 milliion dollar contract). Does it really surprise anyone that LimPPAUh would go there? Does it surpirse anyone that another well known bigot (Hannity) would take LImPPaugh there? May I ask, if you or I signed a $400 contract to spew right wing rhetoric, does anyone believe that you or I would saying anything supportive President? I would live up to the expectations of my contract. What should be noted about the interview(Hannity and LimPPaugh: the duo from the darkside) is how very much LimPPaugh's responses resemble Sarah Palin's rambling comments. If you should view theintervieww (You Tube or Fox News) notice LimPPaugh's sentence structure, and absence of Parts of Speech. All in all the interview and the comments are shameful and very Un-American (If I may).

I think liberals need hearing aides or don't clean the dirty disgusting wax out of their ears, Rush said he hoped the "policies" fail as they will ruin America, not Obama personally, if Obama changes his policies we will be fine. People are dumb. Bill Bennet needs to shut up, his radio show is not that good.

Why would anyone want a president to enact policies that fail? That's ridiculous. That's saying, I want bad things to happen to this country.
Look, I didn't like Bush, and I disagreed with a lot of his policies. But I didn't WANT them to fail. I really wanted things to work out for the best, and they didn't, and that SUCKS. Even if you are a Republican, even if you didn't vote for Obama, don't you want things to improve in this country? Don't you want the wars to end, the layoffs to stop, the economy to be fixed? How can these people claim to want what's best for the country when they sit there and blatantly say, "I hope this country crashes and burns just to show that I was right"? That's ridiculous.
Obama, I hope to God you fix some things. I hope the president after, Republican or Democrat, fixes things. I don't want anything bad for the country, even if I don't like the person in charge. I don't like Sarah Palin but I don't want the Alaskan people to suffer. I want her policies to be for the good of her people, even if I don't agree with them purposely.
How sick is Limbaugh?

I didn't have a problem with what Rush said in that clip (I actually don't listen to the pompous windbag, myself)--he clarified it pretty well. And Obama's quip about it was fine too. I loved Bennett pointing out that Rush is an entertainer--and that he is. He sells the conservatives the shit they want to hear thereby becoming their god, and he gives the liberals more material for comedy. It's all good old American entertainment.

I don't personally care for Rush and I don't listen to him, but have you all lost your ability to reason? If almost half of America didn't vote for Obama because they didn't want his proposed changes for our country, why would we all of sudden want him to succeed in making those changes? That isn't saying we want the country to fail. We want the economy to prosper and Americans to succeed, but we don't want Obama to succeed in making us his vision of what we should be. Is that so hard for you to understand?
If McCain had been elected, would you same people want him to succeed in implementing all the policies he campaigned on? I don't think so. If Obama proposes raising the middle class tax rate to 75%, will you still want him to succeed in pushing it through?
Use your brains instead of your gut response to everything you hear. I doubt there is a person on here, no matter how big a supporter of Obama they are, who will want Obama to succeed in getting every single item on his agenda passed. Even the democrats in Congress don't agree with some of his ideas and won't vote to put them through, so give it a rest already.
Geez, and Tommy dares to write a blog about how stupid Republicans are.

Who cares about Limbaugh? This is what he does - stir up crap to assure his ratings with the conservative base. Bill Bennett's comments were correct - Limbaugh is an entertainer (a comedian, in my opinon) and Obama needs to ignore him.

Conservative Republicans had their chance--they controlled all three branches of the Federal government. And they FAILED miserably. The conservative ideology is completely discredited. Now, the Obama Peace Train has left the station with the rest of us on board and all these losers can do is watch us recede down the track and shake their fists at us and grumble. Pathetic.

I heard what Rush said, and he emphasized that 'I only need four words. I-hope-he-fails.'
I took him at his four words he said he only needed as did quite a few other people.
Evidently you and your master, L. Rush Hubbardbaugh suddenly felt a need for a few hundred thousand more than your original four words.
Not that this is anything new with L. Rush. If he actually burned calories from backpedaling, he wouldn't look so much like Jabba the Hutt.
