A very positive day for President Obama, as with his controversial Treasury Secretary pick, Tim Geithner, being overwhelmingly approved by the Senate.

Obama also gave the order for government regulators to tighten automotive emissions standards, but since that was on yesterdays list, I'm leaving it off of todays.

There was also more talk about the Sasha and Malia Beanie Babies, arguing about his economic stimulus plan, and murmurs about "direct diplomacy" with Iran, but since none of those things are actual news, I'm leaving them off the list.

UPDATE 1/27/09: Once again, to all of you who are questioning why I listed Geithner as a "plus," this list is cataloging the advancements and speed bumps to the Obama administration. Geithner's confirmation is a "plus" for the administration. If they did not want him confirmed, I assume they would have withdrawn his nomination. I am not evaluating his confirmation's impact on our country.

Check out the running tally and learn more about this list here.
