Dick Armey is right. If I was drunk enough to marry Ms. Walsh, as soon as sobered up, I would rent the movie Fargo to learn the proper use a wood chipper.

He got frustrated when she got the better of him. I was hoping she'd tell him not to worry his pretty little head about it and go get her some coffee.

I realize it's not on topic, but there's something preposterous about "Tingle" Matthews complaining about obsequiousness don't you think? Or how about Democrats complaining about politicians pandering. Democrats are the party in which pandering is the official policy. Ever see one of your side giving a speech to NARAL or a million other special interest groups? Talk about groveling. Matthews is a pile of stupid.

RUSH LIMBAUGH IS THE SYMBOLIC HEAD OF THE GOP, HOWEVER, HE'S NEVER RUN FOR ANY OFFICE. AND NO CONGRESSMAN WANTS TO UPSET RUSH, SO THEY FOLLOW WHATEVER LIMBAUGH WANTS. IT'S FUNNY HOW A WHOLE PARTY IS KISSING UP TO RUSH AND THERE'S NOT A MAVERICK AMONG THEM. AND NONE WILL CRITICIZE RUSH WHEN HE'S WRONG.

Tortuga, you must be in a parallel universe. I know you won’t believe it unless you “experience” it, but Mathews WAS a Goldwater Republican until Eugene McCarthy turned him. He served on the staffs of four Democratic Congressmen. In 1974, he lost to Joshua Eilberg in a Democratic primary. He was a Presidential speechwriter for Jimmy Carter (sorry, I said that name, again). He worked for Tip O’Neal for six years.

With those credentials, he sounds like a hard core radical right-winger to me. Work on it over night. I’m sure you can wiggle into a position where you’re not mistaken, again.

How about, Mathews always “felt like”a Republican? That works for me.

I don't think anyone believes that Dick Army is married to a woman at all.

brntrewesl, if your wife knows that you think it fine for Armey to dismiss a woman's opinion as "prattling," you may want to keep your copy of Fargo away from her.

Just don't hide it with those DVDs you have stashed behind your Great Robber Barons of the Gilded Age collectible 12 volume set. She knows about your little collection. She knows quite a lot.

Last year he let slip that he was affiliated with republicans on his show. I saw it live, and of course the sound bytes afterward. Looking at any liberal blog will document time after time where he supported the bush administration and was disdainful of democrats.

He is in fact a sycophant of stomach turning proportion. I think of him as a political plaster caster and not any kind of serious commentator.

He's persona non grata in democratic circles and has been for some time. You can have him and we'll throw in Geraldo Rivera and ron paul if you want 'em.

But Dick Armey is worse. He simply can't hold his own in an argument.

Gingrey is a conservative coward. He rightly stated that it is easy to be Limbaugh and Hannity and "throw bricks" when they have a microphone to do so (and they are not members of Congress). Then he goes on Limbaugh's show and panders like a crybaby. Does Limbaugh pay his friggin' salary? Sheesh, is this the kind of Congressman the people of Gingrey's district in Georgia want? Sad.

You can say what you want about Matthews, Walsh, and Armey, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I watched this unfold live yesterday, and Dick Armey should be ashamed of himself. Do his knuckles drag on the ground when he walks? Bob Herbert is absolutely right, Armey owes Joan Walsh an apology pronto!
