Steele Wins! Becomes New RNC Chairman

Well that is interesting, that is who I thought they ought to put in place for RNC Chairman. Michael Steele seems to have some common sense. Hope I'm not wrong.

Wow - Republicans might get one right here. Steele is more of a moderate, but he sets the best tone out of any of the candidates.

Michael Steele is a surprisingly good choice. I am a Democrat and lived in suburban Maryland for 20 years. Maryland is a very blue state. Because of that, though he was Lt. Gov., he could never rise to Governor or Senator. And, also because of that, he encouraged the perception of himself as a moderate Republican.

Michael Steele is not a flaming idiot, like some other more conservative Republicans, quite the contrary. He is intelligent, even-tempered, well-spoken, with a reputation to be ethically (squeaky) clean. He has proven himself not to be a divisive figure; while in office in Maryland, he cut many a deal and worked closely with Democrats in the legislature.

WWRS (What will Rush say? LOL) Who will represent the neo-cons and social conservatives? Have they gone on permanent vacation? One can only hope.

I'm a disillusioned Democrat, but I'm happy that the RNC chose Steele. I've followed his career for awhile now and he is an excellent choice. He is smart, well-spoken, experienced, and has a lot of great ideas.

I see people here all in agreement, People I have never seen agree about a single thing before, Maybe this is a sign of things to come? Can we remember that we are all Americans first, and party members second?

Let's hope that Mr. Steele is really a conservative, not like the phony black people who just call themselves Republicans because they think it will advance their career (ie: Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice just to name two.) Anyway, as long as he stays true to conservative principles, I wish him well. I am glad to see that incompetent Duncan exit the stage.

The Republican Party now has a real Leader. Michael Steele is without peer. He possesses all of the qualities that will make America proud to have his leadership in any office he may hold, including the Presidency.

Who will blacks support now, half black Obama or a real black American, Michael Steele?

Before some mouth frothing liberal trots out the race card, in the 2008 Presidential election, more than 30% of whites supported Obama. It is estimated that more than 90% of blacks supported Obama.

Overall, the military supported McCain by over 50%, but nearly 80% of black military supported Obama.

Remember O.J. Simpson? More than 80% blacks thought he was innocent. If blacks are looking for a pattern of racism, look in the mirror.

Back to the question, real Steele, or white mama Obama?

Steele’s mother was a Democratic widowed laundress who, he stated, worked for minimum wage rather than accept public assistance.

Steele grew up in a Democratic household. However, as a young man he switched to the Republican Party & is the first African-American to hold the position. Prior to this, Steele served as chairman of GOPAC and worked as a partner at the law firm of Dewey & LeBoeuf. He also served as Lieutenant Governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007 under Governor Robert Ehrlich.

Steele was the first African American to serve in a Maryland state-wide office and the first Republican lieutenant governor in the state.

At the time he was the highest-ranking elected African American Republican in the United States. Steele ran for a Maryland United States Senate seat being vacated by retiring senator Paul Sarbanes, but he lost the 2006 election to Democratic Congressman Ben Cardin!

Steele palin 2012: Sure to carry many of the 5 solid GOP states w 2% of US Population!

Thank goodness! I've been rooting for Michael Steele all along, but thought he wouldn't make chairman because he wasn't an RNC insider. The RNC needs someone who has the enthusiasm to energize and grow the party. Steele's the man.
