Obama Tally: Day 11 - Why Can't People In the Public Eye Pay Their @#$!ing Taxes?

I'm getting more than a little sick of hearing stories about career politicians and other people in high places who can't follow our laws. I pay my taxes, chances are you do to. I have a nanny for my son who is legal to work in the U.S. and we have her working on the books.

So I'm getting a little sick of learning about people who make a whole lot more money than I who can't seem to figure it out. The latest is Obama's pick for secretary of Health and Human Services, Tom Daschle, who just happened to have once served as Democratic Senate Minority Leader. As far as I know, Daschle has no nanny issues, a refreshing change, but he did forget to report over $83k in consulting income. Click the link below for full details.

The other big news of the day was that elections in Iraq went pretty well. I'm by no means suggesting that this success is due to anything President Obama has done, but it will help him meet his stated goal of ending the Iraq war. So we'll say that marks an advancement for his policies.

Lastly, I should note that it sounds like New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg, a Republican, will likely be Obama's pick for Commerce Secretary. I'm going to hold off putting this on the list until the announcement is actually made, but you can vote on how you feel about this pick here.
