In case you didn't catch this fact in my previous reporting on the Alfalfa Dinner, it's exclusive. How exclusive? It's so exclusive, Alfalfa Club members have to bribe themselves to get in.
So this AP video of Sarah Palin's arrival at the elite fete is probably closer than any of us will ever get.
Originally, it was reported that Palin would speak at the dinner, but according to pool reports, she did not. President Obama did speak, making disarming reference to the dinner's commemoration of Confederate Genral Robert E. Lee's birthday, and needled Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
The Alfalfa Club also traditionally puts forth a mock nominee for President, "just for fun," who then has to speak. Since the pool reports cite only one other speaker, it seems that Senator John McCain was the lucky nominee.
If I had known McCain would be speaking, I would have prepared some jokes for him:
- So, I called Governor Palin this morning, I said, "Sarah, it's John, how would you like to go to the Alfalfa Dinner with me? (pause) McCain, John McCain."
- President Obama is working hard to pass this stimulus bill, and after reading it, I'd say he's actually being tri-partisan about this. As in, "I'll try anything."
- Wow, tough crowd. I feel like Goveror Paterson at the Kennedy Center Honors.
- Governor Palin, you look lovely. Just a heads up, Andrew Sullivan is outside telling everyone it's really Bristol's dress.
- And President Obama looks sharp as ever. If you look closely, though, you can see that the buttons on his jacket say "Click here to donate."
- I'm really glad I scored an invite to this dinner. Rod Blagojevich offered me a ticket, but I told him, "I'm already a Senator."
LOLOLOL. What, Tommy, you didn't get invited?? Those damn southerners, they still have a bug up their ass about losing that war with you yankees? They really need to get the hell over it.
My favorite: - Governor Palin, you look lovely. Just a heads up, Andrew Sullivan is outside telling everyone it's really Bristol's dress.

Pretty damn funny, Palin thought she would be the mock nominee for President and wasn't. Too funny. When she was told it was "John" she wasn't sure who he ment.."John? John McCain?" It couldn't get better than that!! Maybe see finally see's the end of her 15 minutes. We can hope!

Maybe going to the Rebel infested dinner for Lee, Obama is making up for his disdain of white Southerners (especially in KentuckY) as Caleb pointed out yesterday.

Let’s have a reality check, shall we?
DEMOCRAT WOMEN
Barbra Streisand, Janet Reno Helen Thomas, Andrea Dworkin Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi Teresa Kerry, Madeleine Albright Susan Estrich, Michelle Obama
REPUBLICAN WOMEN
Bo Derek, Michelle Malkin Janine Turner, Ann Coulter Laura Bush, Monica Crowley Peggy Noonan, Debbie Schlussel Laura Ingraham, Sarah Palin
Far left Democrat women always look so angry. Then, there’s the GD Factor. If the General Demeanor is ugly, nasty, insulting, “F” bomb dropping, wild eyed loon, it leaves no doubt, far left Democrat.

Omigod, JV--really? Is that really what it's about for the Reps? It's no wonder your team lost--you all thought that the rest of the country felt the same way, let's just get us a Barbie doll for VP and everyone will vote for her. If this isn't the most sexist comment I have ever read, I don't know what is. One could do the same for the men of each party as well--tell me, what men on the Rep side can compete with the likes of George Clooney and Brad Pitt?

McCain's humor here is so very dry. Typical. Not really very funny at all.
So sad too bad for poor Sarah. She was probably feeling so fortunate just to be invited and then..... to be shunned. LOL Such is the life of Sarah - I wonder if she will whine about this in another biased interview too? LOL
Sign of the times to come for her? LOL Sorry no mercy for one who showed no mercy.

No jealousy, believe me! I wouldn't want to be like Sarah in any respect. She is the laughing stock of the world - except maybe in the red states. LOL Although I am not "Only the fat and ugly bitch"! Too funny. Go ahead - Parade around the barbie doll and hope for the best - good strategy - she backfired and she will again because...... Way too funny.
Oh - btw - no obsession - that is what the article is about so I am only commenting on the article.

Impressive to say the least that contrary to all the left mud slinging nothing is going to stop Sarah Palin from being the best that she can be and nothing will stop her from moving forward! A true Alaskan woman with a strong resolve and character. Woo Hoo Sarah! From one of the millions of women who support you and all that you do as Governor of Alaska!
