AOL News has a new home! The Huffington Post.
Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! The big news of the day was Obama's announcement that CEO's of companies that are receiving bailout money from the government would have their salaries capped at a measly $500k (which is more than Barack Obama makes in his new gig!).
I'm counting this as a wash for now. Obviously, it was good PR from a populist perspective, and most folks seem to be in favor of the caps, but in terms of actually helping to achive his goal of solving the current economic crisis, does it really do anything? Eh.
I have to admit, I'm partially swayed here by our own Matt Lewis' arguments on the subject (see link below). If you all think I'm being to harsh and should move this to the win column, if only for the PR capital he gained, let me know in the comments.
I also have to hand Obama a tiny win today as the House did vote to delay the impending switch to digital television. As a proud Time Warner Cable subscriber (how's that for company loyalt?), this is meaningless to me personally, but Obama said he wanted it, so I guess it's a win for his policies.
Lastly, the house passed and Obama signed the re-authorization of a Children's Health Insurance bill which extend health insurance to millions of children in low-income homes. The bill was fast-tracked at the president's urging and is in keeping with his stated goals of guaranteeing healthcare for all Americans.
