Reid Says He Has the Votes

    From The Hill:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Thursday that he has enough votes to pass a more than $900 billion stimulus bill out of the Senate.

Reid said he believes at least two Republicans of "good will" would support the Democratic-crafted package.

"Do we have the votes? We believe we do," said Reid, who expects a final vote on the package will be held on Thursday.

There was never really a question of whether they could push this through. The question was whether they could get bipartisan cover at a low enough cost in amendments. With a followup question on whether the Democrats would have the guts to proceed ahead and stake their future to a porkulous trillion dollar money-printing budget buster. Good for them.

If they do push the bill through, Democrats will own the economy from here on out, since Obama says we "must" pass the bill to save the economy.

So what we have here is a Democratic pork bill being sold as a "save the economy bill". And if the economy doesn't turnaround as a result? I think Reid is doing the GOP a favor despite themselves. No wonder conservative morale is up. Go for it Harry, but shouldn't you check with Obama?
