Good for McCain here. His Maverickness is deciding to be a Republican today. It's an easy call, and it's also the right one. Calling it generational theft, i.e. printing money we don't have and spending it on things we don't need.
Now, if only that McCain had shown up in September of 2008 and decided to oppose the Paulson bank bailout fiasco that led to no increased bank lending, office redecorating, bonuses and learjets.

And this is exactly why he is not supporting this plan,
politics, so he can look all Maverickie and stuff...
more of the same from McCain...if he really wanted to be the Maverick, he should be in the trenches with those debating and bringing something new to the table other than tax cuts for the rich....

McCain has some gall to criticize Pres. Obama's plan to rescue Americans in dire straits. His party was in power for eight years and landed us into the mess we find ourselves now. He also demonstrates petty-mindedness. We are going through a serious crisis and cooperation for the good of the country is crucial, not partisan bickering. McCain should know better than that, after the president's overture to him and repeated calls for bipartisanship. He should be backing up the package for all its limitations, because doing nothing--like Hoover--will be a disaster. Come, come, Mr. McCain, give us Americans a hand, instead of dwelling on sour grapes. Anna.

your disturbing comments are about a hero, who was willing to give his life, so that you can insult hime, or disagree with him respectfully....as president elect followers, show some integrity, he has proven, without a doubt, his patriotism....have you?

I'd get stimulated by the news that McCain, Palin, and joe the plumber would'nt ever be mentioned again~ and since when did "joe the plumber" who is supposed to represent the average american ever come up with the money to take a trip to isreal? I really wish this group of side show freaks would just go home. Further more could somebody ask Senetor McCain how he proposes to help control the southern drug border? No he's never listen to his constituents' just ask someone in Pheonix...

McCain will vote against anything that Obama proposes. He is one of the most anti people in the senate. Obama has tried to hail this man as a hero and a maverick and Mccain's attitude is shinning through like a bright light

Anna L. V Josephs, that is exactly the sick water-carrying parroting that America doesn't need. You obviously know diddly and squat about the economy or this monstrosity that Obama laughingly refers to as his recovery plan, as it is neither a recovery plan nor his. It's a pelosi-reid et al Dear Santa letter and the American taxpayer for generations to come is the Santa. Democrat voters and willfully uninformed AOL commenters blindly pledging allegiance to this stimulus bill are betraying both the truth and this country. You should be ashamed of your willing and docile swallowing of whatever congressional democrats decide to stick down your throat. Disgusting.

It doesn't sound like many of the Republicans know much of anything about economics. They need to get some people in their educating them about why we need this stimulus spending now, before our entire country goes down the tubes in another Depression. McCain is a cranky old fool, and he's very bitter that he's not President. Thank God he isn't. The Republicans created this mess that we're in now, with all their tax cuts for the rich, and starting trillion dollar wars, etc. We don't need more of the same. We need help SOON with our economy, and that means passing a stimulus bill like what the Democrats are proposing, without all the crap that the Republicans are trying to tack onto it, like more tax cuts. Listen to the experts, people, not John McCain.

The past few weeks are certainly a step in the right direction for the GOP. Now we need to hope they hold true, and make sure everybody understand clearly their goals and how they can truly make this a better America.
This Stimulus makes TRAP look like a good idea. Lots of money with very little said about what it will do and how it will boost the economy.
The best Democratic response to the Republican resistance is a whining "It is our chance now, just do it. Let us screw things up how we want to. You had your turn. Mom! McCain is picking on me!"
