Michelle Obama graces the cover of the forthcoming issue of Vogue magazine. She becomes the second First Lady to appear in that illustrious spot. Creepy trivia buffs know that Hillary Clinton was the first. See the three-shot Obama slide show here.
Of course, Vogue, along with other fashion glossies, has had something of a bad rap for its tendency not to put African American models on its cover, as well as inside its pages. As Jezebel noted back in June:
Last year, we took it upon ourselves to count black models photographed for fashion editorials. Vogue's October issue? Zero black models. Vogue's November issue? Zero black models. Vogue's December issue? Zero. In January, one black model, Chanel Iman, appeared in Vogue...
Though the Obamas are not fashion models, their good looks and power will mean many more magazine covers to come, and that could turn the tide on a rather unfortunate media standard.

Who cares if any magazine leaves out colored people. It's their prerogative. It is boring to continually hear or read comments about someone counting how many people of color are being included or excluded from anything. Stop crying and looking for handouts and privileges you think you deserve without earning them. Anyone who thinks Michelle obama is a fashion plate or a beauty needs a lesson in reality.

She is very unattractive. I won't use the Gorilla analogy, but she is not an attractive woman, contrary to all the liberal media trying to convince us otherwise. I think Vogue did an excellent job of doing her makeup and making her look reasonably good for their cover.

She does not require your approval. Who are you??? Why should Jet or Ebony magazines have European Americans on the cover,why are there Black award shows?? Because for many, many years Whites excluded them!! When you say Blacks should work instead of getting hand outs or affirmative action, when they do, you complain. You cannot have it both ways. It's their magazine. They can put anyone they choose on the cover. Maybe they have higher standards than most, which may make it more difficult to find a beautiful black woman. Look around. Their not exactly everywhere you look. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
