Blagojevich Calls Foes Drunks, Adulterers

In the weeks leading up to his impeachment, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich pulled every trick in the book--minus the white Bronco highway chase--to stave off the inevitable seize and capture. Even though he's been effectively removed from office, the former Nixon groupie may still have a few more cards to play.

Like dishing the dirt on his lying, two-timing, booze hound colleagues.

According to MSNBC, Mr. Blagojevich is ready to expose the "the phoniness and hypocrisy" of Illinois politics. That shouldn't be too hard.

"I've got my crayons ready, I'm ready to write it. I'd like to tell those stories," Blagojevich said Wednesday on a WLS Radio morning show. "A bunch of them are cheating on their spouses, a lot of them drink in excess, very few of them know what's going on, they just take their marching orders from legislative leaders."

Now, even though scandalous tell-alls written with crayon are not always taken that seriously, state legislators still have concerns about the former governor's volatility. According to the article, some of Blagojevich's associates fear he may rat on them to reduce his own sentence when federal prosecutors indict him on corruption charges.

Says Chicago defense attorney John Beal, "At some point he's going to realize how much trouble he's in and the way the federal sentencing works now, the best way to reduce your own sentence is to cooperate against someone else."

Excessive drinking, philandering, incompetence and now corruption? I feel another Showtime Movie of the Week coming on.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
