Video: The Gay Marriage Snipers Are Coming!

This is even funnier than that House GOP video from before. A new website promoting an anti-gay marriage amendment has put up an inflammatory, yet hilarious, video.

The site pretends, for all its life, to be an aw-shucks, grassroots church effort, but is it really?

The site, wv4marriage.com, was launched last month and features an online form so clergy can report their results. While the site's owner is not apparent from its pages, the contact listed on its domain registration is CampaignSecrets.com, a Georgia firm that bills itself as "focused exclusively on electing Republicans to local office.''

Holy culture wars, Batman! I didn't see that coming! Really, though, the fact that the "victims" each have their own jar of bubbles, instead of sharing, should have been a dead giveaway.

The money shot from this video is the sniper-scope-cam, but it really is a "Where's Waldo?" of unintentional hilarity. My favorite is the part where they're using the old-timey "airplane on the map" device to explain how gay marriage will infect West Virginia, when without warning, the capitol building rises into the frame like...well, just watch it.



I also wondered if the couple featured in the video was the only one who'd be allowed to get married. Usually, when you say marriage is between ONE man and ONE woman, you don't show a picture of each one.

They're right to be afraid. Gay marriage, or at least civil unions, are an inevitable reality. At least its opponents have decided to entertain us in the meantime.
