Chicago Tribune, Washington Post Call on Roland Burris to Resign

It is a good thing we supposedly voted for change. Sadly, the only change we seem to be getting is a Government that is more self serving, corrupt and partisan than before.

I don't agree with the former comment at all. Obama hasn't struck me as corrupt or self-serving. He appears willing to try to actually serve the American people. He has not been the one acting partisan. The Republicans have stolen the show on that one. It was the LAST President who served this country in a corrupt, self-serving way. That's why we voted for CHANGE, and it's obvious that we got it. Burris should resign, and the new Governor of Illinois should get to pick the Senator from Illinois. And none of this special election crap that I'm sure the Republicans will be screaming for. The rule right now is that the Governor gets to choose. If they want to change the rules for the future Governors, they can try, but they need to follow the rules in place at this time. That pretty much ensures that a Democrat will be chosen , which they won't like, but rules are rules, and they better learn to live with them.

I don't see this as a Democratic or Republican problem, it's systemic. They're all crooks and liars, who've destroyed our country for personal gain. They don't seem to think that they should be held responsible for what they do, yet have the authority to make us responsible for what we do. I'm sick of the whole f#%@ing system.

I think he should stay. Maybe if the people of Illinois are forced to suffer the embarrassment of having their dirty laundry exposed nation-wide for an extended period of time, they'll think twice before voting a goofball like Blago into office next time around.

I think the ethics committee is doing a piss poor job of vetting any of the people Obama wants in office. Burris is just another example when Obama told Harry Reid to "seat" Burris immediately because the consitutional requirement for the signatures "really wasn't necessary". Every time there is a corrupt person found, Obama has a direct link to them and if people can't see that then they are blind or have selective hearing.

Another lie another polititian. impeach and throw him in jail. Take away all pensions he has thru gov. jobs. He should not profit from this at all. Dems should have stood their ground when they did not want to seat him.

I recall that Obama was not for having Burris as the replacement initially, because of the ex-Governor choosing him. He wasn't calling for him to be seated immediately. Obama decided he did not want to battle Burris, because there were bigger problems to worry about, and he didn't want to be distracted by the Burris problem. Don't try to attribute to Obama that which is not his fault. The new governor of Illinois can pick an untainted replacement if Burris leaves office. I do agree that the republicans will try to find a way to stop that from happening.

Roland Burris will soon be the former Senator from Illinois...at the length truth will out.

Moderate, I couldn't agree more! If there is a law that says he still gets senate retirement benefits after being forced to resign, it needs to be changed now!
