Gibbs Hits Back Hard at Santelli, Revolting Traders

Yesterday, I brought you the story of CNBC's Rick Santelli leading Chicago futures traders in a modern-day "Attica," ranting about deadbeat homeowners with extra bathrooms. I was not amused.

Well, neither was Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. I was at today's briefing (although I didn't get to conduct it), and when Gibbs was asked about it, he held court for a good 5 minutes, leaving little doubt as to his opinion of Santelli's outburst. He got several laughs, including when he kiddingly scolded Chuck Todd by saying, "He's from Chuck's network."

It doesn't look like Rick's "Tea Party" is getting any traction with the American people, or from the press.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
