Watermelon Man Resigns

The Mayor of Los Alamitos, CA who emailed the picture to the left with the caption "No Easter Egg Hunt this year" to acquaintances, including an African-American businesswoman, will step down on Monday.

Mayor Dean Grose, an Orange County, CA Republican, has been under the spotlight by local and national media since this tasteless email became public, and had apologized to the recipients, the city council and the City of Los Alamitos. He claimed at the time that he was unaware of the watermelon stereotype when he sent the email.

Grose now admits that the hoopla surrounding this has affected his ability to lead.
