Ordinarily, I welcome any sign of fight from the Democrats, but I'm not sure how to feel about Nancy Pelosi's latest hip-check at the GOP. From HuffPo:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a message for House Republicans who think they weren't given enough time to debate or amend the stimulus package that moved through Congress over an eight-day period earlier this session: You could have had much less.

"To tell you the truth, I could have fast-tracked this much faster," Pelosi, a California Democrat, told a group of reporters and progressive writers at a breakfast gathering Tuesday.

Tough talk, for sure, and certain to please progressives who have watched the Dems in congress fold like origami experts for 8 years, but I'm not sure about the PR value here.

President Obama was very successful at crafting the perception that despite his tireless efforts to reach out to the GOP, they are slapping his hand away to score points with their base. Since the Republicans are falling all over themselves to wash Rush Limbaugh's feet with their last shreds of dignity, why do anything to interfere with that perception?

Still, I give her points for the Austin Powers-esque, "Allow myself to introduce...myself" phrasing of her statement.
