Dave echoed the sentiments of another conservative that I spoke with today, arguing that the Democrats' elevation of Rush Limbaugh to de facto Republican Grand Poobah is so much the better because Rush is so ginchy once you get to know him.
I understand the theory. Perhaps, like Reverend Jeremiah Wright, there are only a few batsh*t crazy quotes sprinkled in over 20 years of standard evangelizing. My rejoinder is that, like Reverend Wright, America won't get to know Limbaugh beyond the clips and sound bytes that will be played over and over and over.
Countdown got a decent head start, cobbling together some of Rush's catalog.
There's a lot more where those came from, and more to come in the future, as well. I suppose Countdown only has so much time to put together a show.
For example, they leave out this brilliant bit of "satire" from Rush: (listen here)
Then, there's the clip where Limbaugh compares Democrats to rapists and murderers, then calls for them to be stopped no matter what (He later amends his statement to actions within the law).
Throw in Limbaugh's Paul Shanklin "parodies" for good measure, and I think decent Americans will get the picture.
Only time will tell if focusing on Limbaugh will be a winning strategy, but I like the Dems' chances.

Limbaugh:...Obama is holding his own against both of them--doing more than his share of the "spade" work. Maybe even gaining ground at the moment. Using not only the spade ladies and gentleman---that when he finishes with the "spade" in the garden of corruption planted by the Clinton's, he turns to the "hoe." And so the spade work and his expertise using a hoe. That's not some dusty old find. It's from last January!
