Well It's About Time! Blagojevich to Write a Tell-All Book

Rod Blagojevich has been out of office for nearly a month now, and in that time, the media has purged him from their cesspool to make room for Roland Burris, Rush Limbaugh, and the freakish Octomom.

Desperate to get back into the spotlight, Blagojevich has now returned brandishing a gimmick even lamer than jogging during his impeachment trial. In fact, it's the same gimmick that everyone from Katherine Harris to Joe the Plumber has used to squeeze out life's all-important 16th minute of fame...

We're talking of course about a tell-all book!

A publicist for Rod Blagojevich says the former Illinois governor plans to write a book "exposing the dark side of politics."

Glenn Selig says Blagojevich signed a six-figure deal Monday...

Selig says Blagojevich's book will tell the truth and will reveal information "that will at times be embarrassing to himself as well as to others."

Is this a joke? "Exposing the dark side of politics"? "Embarrassing to himself as well as to others"? Is it somehow possible that Blagojevich hasn't been following coverage of his own scandal in the news? (That would be pretty hard for the guy to ignore, considering that nearly every TV show in the month of January featured him as a guest.)

Because at this point it would be hard to find something "darker" than selling a seat in the most powerful governing body in the world, which is what Blagojevich allegedly did. Likewise, it would be harder to find something more embarrassing than agreeing to raise money for this crook and then completely failing at it, which is what Roland Burris has already admitted he did.

And yet some publisher apparently believes there's more out there that's yet to be told-- six figures' worth!

Too bad that publisher could have come up with those six figures about 3 months ago. Had he done so, and maybe thrown in an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post, he'd be sitting pretty as the junior Senator from Illinois!

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
