Apparently the Transportation Security Administration has decided that living with himself is punishment enough for David Vitter.

The Louisiana Senator, who edges out Eliot Spitzer as the most self-righteous man to be utterly consumed by whores, was in hot water for causing a ruckus at Dulles International Airport earlier this month, setting off an alarm and verbally abusing airline personnel before fleeing the scene.

Well the TSA reviewed the situation and decided to slap Vitter with the same punishment that Spitzer got when he violated the Mann Act.

Reports the Washington Post's Mary Ann Akers...

Senator David Vitter (R-LA) has dodged yet another bullet. The senator has escaped further scrutiny in his alleged airport rage incident earlier this month in which he set off an alarm in the United Airlines terminal of Washington Dulles International Airport after opening a closed security door.

The Transportation Security Administration, which had been reviewing the incident, has determined Vitter violated no security rules at the airport...

Airport police officers were called March 5 to deal with an "irate passenger" in the United terminal. But by the time officers arrived, the passenger was gone, according to a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Vitter claimed he "accidentally went through a wrong door at the gate."

After a rough patch for the perennially embattled Vitter, things finally appear to be turning his way. In addition to yesterday's TSA ruling, Vitter recently learned he would not have to face somehow-even-more-self-righteous Tony Perkins in a Republican primary, and he's already, um, outlasted, the DC Madam.

Could it somehow be that after all of his self-inflicted scandal, Vitter is going to end up getting re-elected next year?

Before you say yes, just remember two words: Stormy. Daniels.
