Initially, word of his candidacy went out on Twitter (where Newsome has some 275,000 "followers"), then was posted at Facebook, YouTube, and MySpace. Here's the video clip he disseminated via the new technology:
As demonstrated by Barack Obama, if you want to play politics these days, you'd best get hip to the power of social networks. Just ask Newt Gingrich, John McCain and all the other crusty old guys who are tweeting away on a regular basis. Politics has always been about building networks, and there are few tools better at doing that than the ones Newsome seems intent on mastering.
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
