Whatever is going on there, it's clear that Chavez is the Zeta Dog in the conversation. Obama's body language communicates to the showboating Chavez that he is being handled.Now, thanks to Jake Tapper's blog entry over at ABC this afternoon, we've got fresh Venezuelan news videotape from the same Americas summit through a door showing the two leaders conversing through a female interpreter.
No smiles in this exchange. In fact, Obama at first appears eager to walk away and is held back by Chavez. The American president then dominates the ongoing discussion and is seen gesturing with his right hand and pointing his finger several times at Chavez's chest.
The White House hasn't commented yet on the content of the exchange, and until they do, we can have fun speculating. Here's the clip:

Obama: Hugo, listen carefully to me. The next time you walk up to me with a book, it had better be a copy of "The Audacity of Hope," and you better bring a pen for me to sign it. If you ever walk up to me like that in front of people again, I will beat you like a bowl of egg whites, capiche?

If you're gonna talk tough (assuming that's what's actually going on), at some point someone's going to call your bluff and you're either going to have to back it up or capitulate. I'm not sure having taken out a small band of 3rd world pirates is enough to dissuade someone like Chavez from mounting a challenge of some sort if he feels he's been publicly humiliated.

Chavez: Barry, long time no see.
Obama: Yes, Huggy, but we're here now and I want to tell you how impressed I am. First you nationalize your country's industries, then squelch the opposition and now...no term limits! I've got some catching up to do, but you have to admit I'm moving at lightning speed. I'm well on the way to nationalizing the banks and we've put the opposition on a Homeland Security watch. Won't be long before I convince the sheep in Congress to award me a lifetime job as presidente.
Chavez: Let me know if you need any more help.

Not only was I never mayor of a city -- I was never even President of the P.T.A............
I was never governor of anything -- much less one of the 57 States in the U.S...
I never had a real job..............
I've never been responsible for balancing a budget or turning a profit.......
I never owned a business.....but.....I was once a community organizer........
I was a do-nothing senator in one of the 57 states for awhile -- (elected after getting all my opponents disqualified)............
I never served a day in the military -- cause I hate the site of guns...........
SO, I was wondering if you folks are amazed that enough ignorant Americans would actually elect me Supreme Ruler of The 57 Divided Socialist States of America?
