John Boehner Says the T-Word

Here's a short follow-up to my earlier piece.

Maybe it was just a slip of the tongue, but House Minority Leader John Boeher, speaking at a news conference, did what few conservatives have been willing to do: He called our "harsh interrogation techniques" by their truer name, "torture." Here's Bohener:

"Last week, they released these memos outlining torture techniques. That was clearly a political decision and ignored the advice of their Director of National Intelligence and their CIA director."

Like Dick Cheney, Boehner maintains that torture is necessary and justified to keep Americans safe. Still, terming the practices torture has legal ramifications, and the Bush people can't be happy to hear a fellow Republican use the word.
