The Fix reports
that Sarah Palin and Campaign Solutions -- the Internet/Fundraising firm that has been helping advise and manage SarahPac since its inception -- are parting ways.
Campaign Solutions is run by
Becki Donatelli -- whose Internet company worked for both McCain's presidential campaign, and helped him raise unprecedented amounts of online money in 2000. Becki is also the wife of former RNC Deputy Chairman
Frank Donatelli, who now runs GOPAC.
Palin's hiring of Campaign Solutions was originally viewed by many as a sign she was attempting to surround herself with seasoned Republican professionals as she geared up for a presidential run in 2012. Aside from her impressive resume, Becki Donatelli is known to be more of a moderate Republican, so some also viewed this as a sign Palin was becoming more pragmatic -- at least in terms of hiring political professionals.
But a series of snafus, including Palin's pulling-out of CPAC, and
an embarrassing scheduling miscommunication regarding a high-profile Republican fundraising dinner, demonstrated a lack of communication between Palin's Alaska loyalists and her DC team. It is unclear who was at fault.
Interestingly, Campaign Solutions appeared to be more than just advising SarahPac, as close Donatelli allies and former McCain operatives occupied official leadership roles in the PAC.
My sources indicate that the firm decided to part ways with Palin. It is unclear who will now lead SarahPac.
