Poll last week showed Specter in Trouble
A Rasmussen poll among likely Republican voters taken last week showed Sen. Arlen Specter's opponent for the 2010 Republican primary, Pat Toomey, with a massive lead over the 28-year incumbent.
The results were:
Pat Toomey- 51%
Arlen Specter- 30%
Some Other Candidate- 9%
Not sure- 10%
That same poll showed 58% of Pennsylvania Republicans saying they were less likely to vote for Specter after he
voted for President Obama's stimulus bill earlier this year. Specter was one of three Senate Republicans to vote for the bill, while no House Republicans voted for it.
Specter will hold a press conference later today to answer questions about his switch. The Capitolist will report back.

So instead of letting the people decide an election , specter is going to switch parties so he won't face a losing re-election??? i guess McCain should have ran as a dem. so he could have been president. what a pathetic coward.

I think this shows how far right the republican party has moved. If you don't vote pretty much the Republican line you are out! I blame this on people like Rush who has led his followers to think that if it has anything to do with a Democrat it (or he or she) should be burned to the stake. People like him has caused such a great divide in the parties that there is hardly any middle ground any more. It is one thing to express your opinions but another to call the other side mean and hateful.

It seems the political winds are blowing left, big surprise, another politician that can see which way the wind is blowing. I was around for President Johnson's "Great Society", God it took us 30 years to get over that political wind storm. I hope we are smarter this time.

Why get so upset over Senator Specters' decision to switch parties? He
must have been disgusted with the way the Republican party has grossly
put this country to its' knees in the last eight years. He knew we had
few friends abroad, our financial system ws shot and the mass of the true Black-Hearted Republicans would do everything possible to thwart
the plans of the smartest group ever to assist the Presidency. It is time for all to work together to save our country rather than criticism
vindictive, selfish assaults against our government. Let us all pray.
