Republicans are wasting no time in repaying the favor to Sen. Arlen Specter, who jumped ship from the GOP yesterday and received President Obama's endorsement at the White House this morning.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has ordered 100,000 robocalls over the next 24 hours to tell Pennsylvania Democrats, yes registered Democrats, how fond President George W. Bush once was of Sen. Arlen Specter (pictured together in 2007).

In the call, a man named Jack says he wants "to properly introduce" Arlen Specter to the Democrats of Pennsylvania and gives this quote from President George W. Bush about Specter:

"I'm here to say it as plainly as I can, Arlen Specter is the right man for the United States Senate. I can count on this man - see that's important. He's a firm ally when it matters most."

There's something sort of twisted, and possibly effective, in Republicans using George Bush's endorsement as a weapon against a candidate who was a Republican until yesterday.

Regardless, The Capitolists put this at the top of the 2010 races to watch, and that race clearly starts today.
