Palin Adds White AR-15 Rifle to Collection of Honors

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is being honored by the National Rifle Association with a commemorative Alaskan Hunter AR-15 rifle. From ADN's Alaska Ear:

SHOOTIN' TOOL ... According to the May edition of American Rifleman, "Sister Sarah" will be getting a cool present at an NRA banquet on May 14 -- a special AR-15 rifle that shoots a .50 caliber bullet.

Palin's affinity for hunting has been a flashpoint for public reaction to her, with opponents portraying her as a sadistic gun nut, and fans seeing her as a hot, heat-packin' mama. The right-o-sphere seems to be having a lot of fun with this, and why shouldn't they? Here's Ace of Spades waxing expert:

Just so you know -- that is not the famous ginormous .50 cal round you'd see in a .50 cal machine gun, or a .50 cal Barret sniper rifle. It's the same caliber, but not the same huge length of that round (less length = less gunpowder = less velocity = less power).

The rifle's appearance has spurred unconfirmed rumorsof Governor Palin's imminent deployment to Hoth.


It was also recently announced that Palin is set to receive a custom motorcycle from Orange County Choppers, to honor Alaska's 50th year of statehood. Authorities insist, however, that the combination of the two gifts does not pose any threat to US citizens named Sarah Connor.


While liberals may feel tempted to get worked up over this, I say hang back and enjoy the show. By the show, I mean Palin destroying her helpless Republican opponents.
