Miss California's Gay Education: All Men With Mustaches Are Gay

Which is totally not true. Some of them are just sissies who still like chicks.
TMZ is digging deep dish dirt on Miss California Carrie Prejean, and they've uncovered a bunch of gay venom in her parents' divorce:
Say, hypothetically, I wanted to know what it was that made Perez Hilton think it was OK to call Carrie Prejean a "B" and/or "C-word." If his parents had healthy attitudes toward gay people, could I conclude that gay=misogynist?
Really, most of the LGBTQ people I know come from homes where a lot worse things than this were said. Few and far between are the coming out stories that ended with a family-sponsored cottilion. Is Carrie Prejean secretly gay?
To paraphrase Hillary Clinton, It Takes a Village to raise a homophobe. While I'm sure rants about facial hair and gayness didn't help, Carrie Prejean is the product of a society that has treated one group after another, including women, as less than human.
So, while TMZ may think they're helping out with this armchair psychoanalysis, what they're really doing is excusing the greater social organism's resistance to anyone who is sufficiently different.
As I said yesterday, Carrie Prejean seems like a nice person. If Perez Hillton and the rest of the world had reacted better to her fairly reasonable first answer (remember, she started out thinking people should be able to choose), NOM would likely have been denied a beautiful, high-profile spokesperson.
I also know, for a fact, that Joe the Plumber is a nice guy, but like many otherwise nice people, he's been fed too much garbage about gay people. And pretty much everything else.
Either way, it is a counter-productive waste of energy to spend time beating up on a young girl, or even a galoot like Joe the Plumber. Jesus knew that turning the other cheek worked, not just because it's the "good" thing to do, but because if he went around jacking people in the face, nobody would relate to him anymore.

In one of the docs, Carrie's dad describes a confrontation he had with her mom in 1996, in which he recounts an argument in a restaurant parking lot, where "Ms. Prejean accused me, in front of our daughter, of homosexuality."
The papers also quote a court-appointed doctor who said "The mother questioned [within hearing of the girls] whether [her father] was a homosexual or had a homosexual roommate."
...In court papers dated May 16, 2000, a report from the court-appointed counselor says "The mother also alleges the father told the girls their stepfather was gay, that all men with mustaches are gay." The father's response:
"The father acknowledges talking with the girls about the stepfather's brother being gay, not the stepfather."While it goes without saying that TMZ is all class for digging up Carrie's childhood trauma, I'm even less impressed with their argument of convenience.
