Miss California Carrie Prejean's father tells E! online that his daughter has gotten a vote of confidence from another famous beauty queen: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. From E!:
Carrie Prejean and Sarah Palin go together like lipstick and pigs.

At least, so says Prejean's father, who tells E! News in an exclusive interview that the Alaska governor has already been in touch with his lightning-rod spawn.

"She called her directly to offer support," says the 58-year-old William Prejean

While he did not reveal exactly which words of wisdom Palin offered to his suddenly-and literally-overexposed daughter, he did clarify that the phone call came prior to the beauty queen's racy photos appearing on TheDirty.com.

Just to be clear, they're referring to Carrie Prejean's hot pics, not Sarah Palin's.

William Prejean went on to dismiss
suggestions that issues surrounding his divorce contributed to Carrie's views on gay marriage, because "I'm not gay."

He also claimed that Carrie has received a lot of support from the gay and lesbian community:
"The gay and lesbian community has been supportive of Carrie," he says, despite mounting public evidence to the contrary. "It's just been overwhelming.

"Everyone comes up to Carrie and says, 'We may not agree with you, but we respect you for what you say and these individuals do not,' and they're very emphatic, 'Do not represent the gay and lesbian community.' "
It's unclear whether this predated Carrie's alliance with NOM.

As an ally of the LGBTQ community, I was appalled at Perez Hilton's conduct, and attacks on Prejean typified here, so I can see a repudiation of that kind of thing. Prejean's treatment by outliers and outsiders of the community has most certainly hurt the cause of gay marriage more than Carrie Prejean's commercial ever will.

If Palin can get past the sexy, PG-13 pics of Prejean circulating on the web, she might have found her own Joe the Plumber for 2012.
