Obama Basketball Game Gets Rough

President Obama is not known as a particularly aggressive politician - he greatly prefers compromise and collaboration to hardball tactics.

But in basketball, the rules are different. At the president's pickup game Saturday afternoon, things got rough. And one man -- Obama's personal aide Reggie Love -- didn't make it back alive.

Mr. Obama changed into black sweats and a Chicago White Sox baseball cap and a motorcade whisked him to the fitness center at nearby Fort Lesley J. McNair, site of the National Defense University, to play basketball. His companions included his personal aide, Reggie Love, a former captainof the Duke University basketball team.

After the game, Mr. Love had a bandage on his chin, according to the pool reporter at the scene. And on return to the White House, he "muttered he might need stitches." The players included a group of guys he used to play with at the Y until he departed for what one of them described as "that whole campaign tour," a phrase that came complete with finger quotes. Apparently the Obama side beat their younger opponents in three out of five games of 21, although none of that has been independently verified.

Well, OK, so Love did make it back alive. But stitches are pretty serious.

At any rate, although there's no evidence that Obama caused the injury, we're going to assume that he did and that this means he's a violent and dangerous person. Joe Biden had better shoot an old man in the face soon if he's going to keep pace!

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
